So my college friends have a beautiful 18-month-old girl who is adorable and cute... and completely outsmarted me!
So she wants to go run right out into the parking lot... no more than 2.5' tall, Elizabeth's feet run right out from under her when they want to. So I leap in front of her and stand as the guard. She bumps right into me, goes left, I jump left, shoots right, then I jump right, then tries going through my legs. I let her go this time, because she still has about 10' of safe runway, then I leap in front of her again. This time she looks up with a smile, and tries again left, right, then I decide not to let her through. Well, instead of having a temper tantrum like most 1.5 yr. olds, but no, her father is finishing a doctorate, and her mom teaches Calculus. So... she uses her little 3" fingers, wraps them around my index finger, and drags me back to the bench where I belong, says, "No," and then takes off back down the runway towards the parking lot. To put it lightly, I was aghast with smiles and silly shock. I have known 5 year olds to be fooled by my antics ... and a 1.5 year old knows exactly where she wants me to be... me, an adult... and she grabs my hand and tugs me back and sets me down. Told by a toddler. :)
