IBOS: Inconceivable Book on Shelf! Harry Potter Sitings

Yes, it's amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes, but there, in the shopping market, sitting nicely on the shelves, was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Who woulda'!

Well, everyone at the beach could have had it in their hands on the sands. Funny thing... I was on the Metro this morning and only one copy of The Deathly Hallows was on my car. Did everyone read it over the weekend already? Or did the publishers overestimate demand?

Parents, kids, full-grown adults including my friends, reserved copies weeks in advance, camped out at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and other pre-fab book stores at midnight on Saturday... and unless they stayed up all night reading it (no doubt some of my friends did)... I could have picked up the book on Saturday afternoon at 4PM. 12 million copies is a massive amount of product to "anticipate" consumers will ... for lack of a better word ... consume.

Definitely listen to WTOP's Mike Buchanan ... it's hilarious!

Will Harry Survive the 'Deathly Hallows?'
So all the hype has come down to this: _______ and ________ died... and it wasn't the Weaseley twins, and it wasn't Voldemort and Harry, as some of the pollsters guessed. But now that we know who died, and the final chapter that Rowling has been keeping in a vault for the past six years is revealed, was it all we'd hoped for?

BRAGGING POINT!
The Harry-est Town is Falls Church, VA. Yes, my hometown, the place I grew up, probably has a book on every street corner, and at least one in every other household. (Fairfax and Vienna, VA took 3rd and 4th respectively). Are we just smart consumers? Where the heck is Gig Harbor, WA? At Weight Watchers, we spent about 10 minutes of our meeting talking about it; one woman spent the entire Saturday before refreshing on the Half-Blooded Prince, and intended to spend the entire next Saturday with her nose in the pages of The Deathly Hallows. We suggested that she jump on the treadmill or exercise bike while she reads so that she doesn't eat her way through the book and gain this week. We'll see. I'm vying for her!
