Yup, it's true... I wouldn't be surprised that UCal Berkeley is taking advantage of the technology and putting "video courses" on YouTube, but get a load of this...
At Pitzer College, Professor of Media Studies, Alexandra Juhasz is teaching a course using YouTube as the textbook.
Is this the new Fingerpainting 101?
Or is there some reason to the madness? YouTube was voted person of the year... so what's wrong with doing an in-depth 16-weeker on the fella?
Having taken a graduate course in Rhetoric, we explored evolving technologies as the future of Rhetoric... first there was oral rhetoric, then there was pictoral rhetoric, then writing on stone and wax with a stylus, then the pen... ink... then QWERTY came along, and with it, all the developing frenzies of the post-Al-Gore-invented-Internet. We find ourselves at the cusp of something, well, substantial if nothing else. YouTube-ers must chime in here, I'm not totally into the car crashes and puppies; however, I acknowledge that such avenues for media as YouTube create an environment where the masses hold the power to influence communication.
