Day 11: 20 Publishers in 30 Days

1 - Edit yesterday's query letter for 15 minutes
2 - Print yesterday's query letter on fine paper
3 - Sign the Salutation personally
4 - Proofread aloud... yes, again... just to be sure.
5 - Fold it nicely
6 - Seal it
7 - Stick it in the mailbox or go to the Post Office
WARNING: Do not wait even one more day to send it out. Let it go! Leave it alone! Trust!
8 - Pull out the next pre-addressed envelope with SASE inside
9 - Address the query letter address to the proper person
10 - Change the date of the letter
11 - Change the Dear ..., line to the proper recipient
12 - Go to the publisher's website, or find some books on Amazon that they have published.
13 - Write your query letter to them! (Suggest 4 paragraphs, first introducing the book and its magnificent purpose in the world, second write your qualifications, third, write the best 3-5 sentence summary of the book and its "thesis" or point, four, tell them what they want to know... whether it's audience and word count or page length or rationale or your contribution to publishing distribution.)
14 - Send to an accountability partner friend who will be willing to return feedback tomorrow morning or by noon
15 - Sleep 1 night
