Day 4: 20 Publishers in 30 Days

Today, instead of writing the query letter, I went through my office and found the original publications that were given to me to begin the process of research. Refreshing my memory helped remember how it all got started:

I have been to hundreds of weddings in my life, mainly because of the ecumenical community in which I grew up. Of all the weddings, the ones I remember are the ones in which the bride and groom greeted all the guests as they entered the church. So I called Kay Yohe, a family friend, and asked her whether she still had the research she'd done from her wedding. My mom had told me that she'd researched to find out which wedding customs were myths and which were actually liturgical traditions.

I found an article about the new Rite of Marriage, and some customs that can be incorporated into the ceremony to enhance the ministerial role of the couple.

The second article is a chapter from "Sacred Mysteries" a book written in 1995. The quotes I'd read when still going through all of this are priceless.

I spent the rest of my time reading through all my notes on Google Notes and through the research I'd done to find ideas for the query letter. I also looked at Writer's Market and How to Write a Children's Book for query letter templates. I felt more overwhelmed than accomplished because it seems that my "gameplan" needs clearer, more realistic steps.
