Submission Confirmation

So I've never experienced this with past submissions: the publisher sent me a postcard with a confirmation of receipt on it. The postcard itself is clearly a one-color, one-sided mass production print, and it appears that a typewriter did the address, and on the back wrote the date of receipt, the reference of my manuscript's title, and the Editor's name. What a courteous thing to do! What a great idea! This way I know that my submission has at least made it into their pile and they looked for the title of my work, and took the time to print out my full name and address.

Now, my eager brain takes this as a positive note. Is this postcard from the printer simply Everyman's response? Or, is there some hope in it?

I leave it to you, my blaudience, to keep me from keeping my hopes up.
