Many often ask, why do we call the Friday of Holy Week "good"?
"Good" doesn't mean the opposite of bad in this case.
It's a contraction just like good-bye is.
Recall, that good-bye is a contraction derived from "God be with ye."
Good day is a contraction of "God's day" giving the soverign Lord the glory for all our days.
This leads us to Good Friday. It really is a contraction of "God's Friday" which clearly points to the day in which our Lord died on the cross to take upon him the sins of the world.
