Family in Crisis... ideas?

I know the President of a St. Vincent DePaul organization in Warrenton, VA. This particular family lives in our backyard and I want to at least blog this. If you have anything, please e-mail me, or keep your ears and eyes open if anything drops in your lap. I think oftentimes we are unaware of all the resources we have. I am going to go through my "Funbox" and pass on some of the toys I've collected in the past year.

"Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, we had a family that was in a crisis situation. The parents became unable to take care of the children due to a car accident. The family of these children was taken in by other family members. This family is not financially well off. The mother of these children will probably be paralyzed. She is in surgery today to see if they can repair her broken neck. The father is in jail. From what I have determined the mother was almost completely homeless when the accident occured. There are five children total. The family split the children up amongst themselves. We have one of the families in our church community. They have a beautiful 14 year old who wears 7/8 juniors or a large junior shirt. She does not even have some of the simple things teen age girls enjoy. Her wish is to have things like a cd player and cd's, a comforter for her twin size bed, some DVD's, make-up, etc. This young lady is mature beyond her age. St. Vincent DePaul purchased shoes and 3 sets of clothing for her yesterday.

"Stephen is 10 and wears size 10 boys clothes. Some of the sizes if they are small need to be 12-14. He loves Spiderman. His birthday is this coming Saturday. St. Vincent DePaul purchased him 3 sets of clothes, shoes and a toy for his birthday. He needs more toys to keep him busy. He does enjoy coloring and art work. These boys need toys to keep them busy in the day.

"Seth is about 3; he wears boy size 5/6. We purchased for him 3 sets of clothes and shoes. He likes the Hulk. Seth follows his brother and does whatever he does. He leans on his brother and sister for support.

"The other members of the family have two babies as well; one is about an 18 month old girl. She wears size 4 diapers and 18-month clothes. The other baby is 6 months old. She wears size 2 diapers and 9 month old girl clothes.

"The caregiver family needs pillows for these children. They need size full sheets and twin sheets. If anyone has extra curtains that would be good too. Little things like toothbrushes, towels and these type of supplies are also needed. They also need to have a dining room table to sit 7 as they do not have a dining room table big enough to sit everyone as a family. They have enough mattresses for the family. The caregiver family has a baby about 1 and 1/2. I sure do not want this little guy to be left out either."

Well, I think most of us ladies have some makeup that's never been used.
Maybe one of you guys haven't watched your Spiderman movie in over a year?
I might even check to see if Hollywood Video has some movies the kids would enjoy.
